How Can a Painful Bump On The Wrist Be Treated?

Hello, I have a very hard bump on the back of my hand/wrist, it hurts to bend my wrist and also the bump only shows up if Im bending or flexing it. I believe it could be a ganglion cyst but I also have a vein that appears to be swelled up, starting just below my wrist joint and running about two to three inches up my forearm. The vein is very soft and squishy and does feel a bit numb. Could you please give me some ideas as to what this might be?

Hi,

Most likely ganglion cyst around the wrist.

Primary pain relief with ice application, wrist support and anti-inflammatory medicines.

Surgery is the solution with keeping in mind the possibility of recurrence in many of the operated cases.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
